Negligence is the main cause
of fire accidents at homes,
according to Colonel Saleh

Colonel Saleh said that the
number of fire accidents
that took place at homes
from the beginning of the
current year till Nov.19 has
reached 25 and that many of
these resulted from the
placement of "bukhoor"
censers at the attire
cupboards in order to scent
the clothes. |

"This is considered a very
dangerous behavior
especially when the censer
is left inside the cupboard
for long time. The clothes
placed inside the cupboard
can easily catch fire from
the censors leading to fire
in the entire room and
sometimes the whole house in
case the accident is not
reported immediately," he
said. |

Colonel Saleh added:
"Electricity overloading can
be another cause of fire
accidents at homes as it can
cause electricity short
circuit leading to fire.
People should take care and
not use multiple connections
through single electrical
cable." |

"Electricity equipment plugs
used at homes should never
be placed near curtains or
bed mattresses as they can
easily burn a house in case
a short circuit occurs," the
official cautioned.

"People must know that bed
mattresses are manufactured
from petroleum chemical
materials that are highly
inflammable."
